(e)
(B)
(G)
*D:--0--
*A:-3---
*E:-----
Slip the glove up on my hand
D
For the ants to soothe the pain
C
Of something else
*
Em C
The stings are fading in
D
Not striking me as sane
C
But Indian
*
Em C
Been rubbing salt in sores
D
To wash away the heat
C
Is it Indian?
*
Em C
And as my eyes begin to cloud
D
I acknowledge I’ve been beat
C
Or Indian
G Dm
Are we riding the change
A#
Or slipping down the drain
C
In the end
G Dm
Are my roots to save me now
A#
Will I prevail somehow
C
I’m Indian.
*
Em C
I firmly do believe
D
There will come a change indeed
C
In the end
*
Em C
The pain will flicker by
D
It shall turn away and die
C
In the end
*
Em C
Though I’m no pedigree
D
I won’t fall down on my knees
C
I’m Indian
G Dm
And we’re riding the change
A#
Not slipping down the drain
C
In the end
G Dm
And my roots must save me now
A#
When I prevail somehow
C
I’m Indian.
G Dm
And as the frantic cowboy dies
A#
His friends around him cry
C
“My god! It’s the Indians!”
G Dm
As the fickle fairy cheers
A#
Shouting “no more tears
C
You’re Indian!”

Were we still kissing when you knew that we were through?
Em C Am D
Were we still holding hands when you began to se us from another point of view?
Em C Em C
Tell me was I slipping before I even knew?
Em C Am D
Did I fall down and make my mind go black and blue?
G C G C
Didn’t I know and couldn’t I see?
G C Am D
Why did I have to make those same mistakes my sweet Marie?
Em C Em C
Did I hit the wall before I knew which way to go?
Em C Am D
Couldn’t I just understand when you said no no no nonononononononono.
Em C Em C
Were you deceiving me with conscience white as snow?
Em C Am D
You should win an Oscar for how aptly you preformed the show!
G C G C
